LOCAL POLLSTER TO SPEAK AT SIERRA CLUB THURSDAY

Rice University sociologist Stephen Klineberg, PhD, will be the guest speaker at the Houston Sierra Club meeting on Thursday, August 3. His topic is “Houston in Transition: Toward a New Politics of Environmental Concern.” Klineberg has conducted an annual survey of Houston attitudes for the past 24 years. He has recently published a report entitled “Public Perceptions in Remarkable Times: Tracking Change Through 24 Years of Houston Surveys.” In 2001, he received the President’s Synergy Award from the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition. The meeting opens with a brief social period at 7 pm and the program begins at 7:30. The meeting will be at Central Presbyterian Church, 3788 Richmond. It is free and open to the public.
