LEGACY LAND TRUST SIGNS CONSERVATION EASEMENT

Legacy Land Trust recently obtained a conservation easement for a 23-acre tract of land in Montgomery County that will be called Mussel Pond Preserve. The area is west of Conroe.

Legacy Land Trust negotiated the donation of the property from a developer to Montgomery County Precinct 2. The preserve is named for the Texas native mussels found at the edge of a 4-acre pond on the property. The property soon will be open to the public for low-impact recreational use. It has more than 40 native tree species and 17 species of butterfly. This is the 21st easement that Legacy has negotiated, bringing the total number of acres the trust protects to nearly 5,000. More information about the group is available at the Legacy Land Trust website.
