SEE “THE HILL” AT SIMS GREENWAY

The Houston Chapter of the Sierra Club is hosting a walk at Sims Greenway Park on Sat, June 24, at 9 am. Prepare to be surprised at this “New Age” detention basin that serves Sims Bayou. If your idea of flood detention is a rectangular hole surrounded by a chain link fence, the Sierra Club will show you what residents should demand as detention basin design. This is a great example of detention as a destination for recreation. The 280-acre site is owned by the Harris County Flood Control District, but only 106 acres have been excavated.
