HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS WORKSHOP ON MAY 30

The Houston/Galveston National Weather Service’s 2006 Hurricane Workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 30, from 4 to 9 pm at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The workshop is free and open to the public. Door prizes will be awarded. On the agenda are sessions on ‘Evacuation, are you ready?’ ‘Preparing your home utilities,’ ‘Do you have the right insurance?’ ‘Evacuation plan for the Houston /Galveston region,’ ‘Evacuation plans for special needs population,’ ‘Pets in a disaster,’ and more. Speakers include Bill White, Robert Eckels, and Bill King. Several sessions will be in Spanish. There will also be exhibits.
