Stormwater Wetland Spring Planting at Exploration Green @ Phase 1 Site
May 5 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Stormwater Wetland Spring Planting at Exploration Green @ Phase 1 Site | Houston | Texas | United States

On Mar. 24, Apr. 14 and 21 and May 5 and 19, 2018, from 9:00 am to noon, come plant the shores of Exploration Green Nature Park’s new lake. The wetland will cleanse stormwater and provide habitat for aquatic animals in the lake (which is, in fact, a nationally known flood control basin). Have fun while helping to improve water quality and create habitat! All are welcome to take part in expanding the wetland we’ve been growing and planting with the community, going on the third year. Children are welcome to participate with family members.

Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet and muddy. Tools will be provided.

Parking is at 16203 Diana Ln, Houston, TX 77062.

For more information and to RSVP, visit tcwp.tamu.edu or contact Mary Carol Edwards at mcedwards@tamu.edu.

It’s a well-known fact that the oceans make up a VERY large part of the planet we live on. Even more – we don’t know nearly as much about it as we’d like! Head to the Houston Zoo on Saturday, June 9 to celebrate and learn how to keep the oceans healthy during World Oceans Day Presented by Whole Foods Market.

What do I get to do at World Oceans Day?

  • Visit our booths to learn about marine debris.
  • Learn about sustainable seafood opportunities from Whole Foods Market.
  • Dance with our DJ in the Front Plaza!
  • Check out our Sea Lions SOS, and learn how you can save sea lions in the wild!

This event is included with your Zoo admission and is free for Zoo members.
