Vegan Society of P.E.A.C.E. Monthly Meeting @ Houston Community College Conference Center

Join Vegan Society of P.E.A.C.E. for their “Vegan 2nd Saturdays” Monthly Meetings, Presentations & Vegan Potlucks

Held on the “2nd Saturdays” of each month, they will enjoy a delicious vegan potluck and meeting, along with a discussion, film screening, food demo or speaker presentation on intersectional issues of veganism, animal rights, environmentalism, nonviolence, health and more. Each month will be something new! Their new venue is at the HCC Conference Center.

They are asking for a donation of $5 per person to help cover our facility rental expenses. All attendees must bring a vegan entree to share at the potluck (serving size to feed 10 people)!

Please remember to bring a vegan dish to share with the group! Their events are always vegan, so please only vegan or raw vegan foods (no animal-derived ingredients). Also bring reusable dinnerware and plates to keep the event earth-friendly. If you have questions on ingredients, feel free to contact them.

They will also feature a new discussion topic on inter sectional issues each month, such as: animal rights, ethical vegan living, vegan health & nutrition, cooking, world hunger solutions, eco-friendly living, nonviolence and more! Some months will also include film screenings and/or guest speakers and food demos.

Free Parking is available on level 7 & 8 of the HCC Administration parking garage at Main & Elgin. Use elevator from parking garage to 3rd floor breezeway, which leads to the Conference suites. You must enter the building through the parking garage and not street-level.

All attendees must sign in at the Security Desk.

Brew at the Zoo @ Houston Zoo

Drink beer. Save animals! Join us this spring for the first-ever Brew at the Zoo and help save animals in the wild.
This beer sampling event is for adults 21+ only. Tickets are limited, so buy yours early!

National Wildlife Federation Gathering: Wildlife and Coastal Resiliency @ The Milford House

Please join fellow friends of the National Wildlife Federation for a free, informal gathering to celebrate all the ways your support helps to preserve and sustain Texas wildlife and their habitats. Learn how NWF is working to strengthen and protect coastal communities like Houston from increasingly extreme weather events. Enjoy wine, beverages, and hors-d’oeuvres provided by award-winning chef Soren Pedersen, plus meet National Wildlife Federation’s Regional Executive Director Susan Kaderka and other members of the NWF team.

After Dark Sip and Sea (21+) @ Houston Zoo

If you’ve always wanted to relax and sip a favorite glass of wine against the elegant backdrop of the Zoo’s beautiful Reflection Pool, this event is for you.

Wear your favorite white attire for this al fresco evening under the stars.

While you’re here, you can learn more about the Zoo’s aquatic animals, like sea lions and sea turtles, and how the Houston Zoo is helping save them in the wild. You can also unwind as you enjoy the smooth sounds of a live jazz band.

Price is reflective of online purchase and includes event entry and activities plus one drink. Online sales end at 12:00 p.m. on the day of the event. Tickets are available for $45 at the door. Additional food and beverage available for purchase.

Bring your blanket, lawn chairs or snag one of the tables at the park for a night of fun, music and great prizes! $10 admission includes one bingo packet (approx. 9 games). Additional games and daubers can be purchased for $1 each. Proceeds benefit BBP and Historic Market Square Park. Get there early as cards sell out quickly!

Waugh Bat Colony Boat Tour @ Allen's Landing

Learn more about these thousands of magnificent Mexican free-tailed bats that share the city with us! Led by a “bat girl” docent, guests will enjoy an amazing view of the bats’ dusk emergence from the Waugh Drive Bridge on Buffalo Bayou.

Time: Dusk – Boat departs 30 minutes before sunset (1½ hour boat rides)

Cost: $30 per person (children under 4 are not permitted on boat tours)
