Family Nature Night: Freaky Frogs @ Nature Discovery Center

Mark your calendars to attend Nature Night’s “Freaky Frogs” with Eric Duran, Staff Naturalist and Educator at the Nature Discovery Center. Using live animals, specimens, models, and photos, Eric will show visitors the various common frogs of the Houston area, and will talk about their lives and habitats. Visitors will also learn and try to make some local frog calls.

Activities begin with themed crafts and fun snacks at 6:30 pm, followed by a brief nature walk before a 7:00 pm presentation by a kid-friendly speaker. We wrap things up at 8:00pm.  Advance registration required.

Ceil Dow, their local ginger expert, will be onsite to answer all of your questions and share her knowledge about growing gingers in your garden. Ceil has specialized and worked with gingers at the Mercer Botanic Gardens for many years and is a 24 year Harris County Master Gardener. There will be rare, exotic and easy to grow gingers for you to explore as additions for your shady, sunny or even wet garden. She will also be on site from 10:00 am till 1:00 pm.

Group Lead Bob Jones will discuss items of interest, plus show a recorded video from the CCL National Call from Saturday July 14th. ​The National call will include initial feedback from the June 2018 International Conference in Washington, DC.​
The monthly speaker will be Adele Morris from the Brookings Institution.  She is a senior fellow and policy director for Climate and Energy Economics, and is a leading global expert on the design of carbon pricing policies.​

They will have a presentation on an interesting aspect of renewable energy in Houston, review HREG business, progress, and plan events. After the meeting, they usually spend some time socializing and finding out what is happening on the renewable scene in Houston from each other. Monthly Meetings are the best place for members to learn about HREG, ask questions, and provide suggestions.
