Hit the Hill with Nature Heritage Society for a fun and exhilarating hike. All ages and fitness levels are welcome. It’s a family affair. The Trail is approximately 2.5 miles; shorter routes are available. Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m., and the hike will follow shortly after at 9.
The Adult Owl Prowl is the perfect way to spend a Saturday night in nature. Learn about the wise and wonderful owls you can find in Houston, and get up close and personal with live owls from the Wildlife Center of Texas. After the presentation, participants will head out into the woods to look for owls (and other nocturnal animals) along the Arboretum trails. Enjoy light snacks, wine, beer, and hot drinks to warm you up after the night’s walk.
Come check out the Hogg Bird Sanctuary with Memorial Park Conservancy Staff! Our Conservation Director, Carolyn White, will lead a guided walking tour and talk about the history, conservation, and of course the birds! Participants should expect to walk about 1 mile on potentially uneven surfaces, please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. All are welcome! Memorial Park Conservancy’s State of the Park Breakfast is an annual moment to celebrate recent improvements and share current and future projects in Memorial Park. Shellye Arnold, President & CEO of Memorial Park Conservancy, will present a State of the Park address, including an update on the Ten-Year Plan, a significant component of the bold and thoughtful Memorial Park Master Plan. The Conservancy is honored to welcome Maura Lout, the Executive Director of the Central Park Conservancy Institute for Urban Parks, as the keynote speaker of the inaugural event.
Guests will also see the debut of the 2019 Memorial Park Conservancy video and receive the first distribution of the 2019 annual report.

Transportation and the City  is a fundraiser benefiting LINK Houston’s advocacy for a more robust and equitable transportation network so that all people can reach opportunity.
The evening will feature delicacies from Mama Ninfa’s Tacos y Tortas, Peli Peli, and Lemond Kitchen as well as libations from 8th Wonder Brewery. Guests will enjoy live music and hear from advocates, business owners, and residents about the importance of viable transportation options to access jobs.

The Environmental Educators Exchange meets quarterly on the first Wednesday of the month. Our goal is to provide a neat space to rejuvenate, network and learn about trends in environmental education. All are welcome (including children). Bring a snack to share and invite a friend.
Tentative Agenda:
3:30 – 5:00 canoe in the lake
5:00 – 5:45 networking & resource sharing
5:45 – 6:30 night hike & bonfire?!?
A few rules: For canoeing, we can accommodate children weighing 30 pounds or more. Also, there must be one adult paddler per canoe and one adult per child 10 years and younger. Example: 2 adults with 2 children 10 and younger, 1 adult with 1 child 11+. Maximum 4 persons to a canoe. i.e. One parent cannot ride alone with two children. Canoes and PFDs will be furnished. You may bring your own canoe/kayak.
