Nurture Nature Series Bicycle Rodeo @ Baytown Nature Center

The popular program is from 10 am-12 noon on the first Saturday of each month, except April, when the nature center hosts its Nurture Nature Festival. The family-friendly offerings with hands-on-topics are free with regular admission. Enjoy a fun, educational morning; then stay to picnic, bird, hike, fish or just relax – a great way to spend a morning. For August’s program, bring the kids and their bikes to go through different stations learning bicycle safety, maintenance and even ride through an obstacle course.  Free with general admission.

Wild and Scenic Film Festival, a festival by activists for activists, leaves you feeling inspired and motivated to make a difference in your community and the world. Here you can experience the adrenaline of kayaking wild rivers, climbing the highest peaks and trekking across the globe with adventure films from around the world. You’ll witness how individuals and communities across the globe are taking action.

Our selected films will cover a variety of environmental topics and offer spectacular scenery, breathtaking journeys, and stories of human connections.

Scarecrow Contest Entry Deadline

As part of Mercer Botanic Gardens’ Pollinator Festival and Fall Plant Sale on Saturday, October 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., individuals and groups are invited to create a pollinator-related scarecrow for display in the gardens from Saturday, October 6 to Wednesday, October 31.

Entry forms are available at hcp4.net. Forms also available at Mercer Botanic Gardens on the Visitor’s Center table. All entrants will be contacted by Mercer upon receipt of the form.

Bayou City Waterkeeper’s Back the Bayous @ Armand Bayou Nature Center

Come celebrate what makes the watershed special with Bayou City Waterkeeper! Hike Armand Bayou Nature Center’s forested paths, wetlands, and prairie and be a part of urban conservation as you walk to support your backyard bayous.

10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Interactive Nature 5k (Registration required)

12 – 2 p.m. Free Public Event with live music, wildlife exhibitions, and non-profit booths

All proceeds benefit Bayou City Waterkeeper’s conservation, advocacy, and education programs. This event is part of the Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH Series, presented nationally by Toyota USA.
