On May 14, 2018, from 7-8:30 p.m., Mi Familia Vota and OCA-Houston will cohost a Candidate Forum for candidates in the primary runoff elections for Congressional Districts 7 and 22 and Texas State Senate District 17. Among the topics that will be addressed are the environment, immigration, education, and gun reform. A series of short films about Houston’s environment begins on the Anheuser-Busch stage from noon to 4 p.m. Participants are invited to view them throughout the afternoon. Urban Harvest and Churrascos food truck will be on-site serving healthy snacks and meals.
Throughout the day enjoy live painting by Houston artists completing murals that celebrate the richness and diversity of our community, culture, and natural environment. The 13 artists were chosen from 111 applicants for their designs that envision the Houston we want to see and inspire us to create that shared future together. Their work will be on display at the park through October 2021.
U.S. Representative Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (D-Houston) and special guests USACE Galveston District Col. Timothy Vail, Harris County Flood Control District’s Alan Black, and City of Houston Chief Recovery Officer Steve Costello, will be the panelists of a Community Conservation on Hurricane Harvey on Wednesday, August 25 at 6 p.m.
