Pollinators help plants complete their life cycle by moving pollen from one plant to another. This is a very important process if you like any of the following things – chocolate, fruits, ice cream, and even tequila!

Celebrate these miracle workers during Pollinator Palooza. Learn about the different types of pollinators, pair pollinators with what they help produce, and learn how you can save pollinators in the wild!

Have you ever been curious about where animals live and build their homes? Join us as we hike around the Zoo looking for their construction zones! We’ll explore how native wildlife thrive by observing structures such as nests, ant colonies, and spider webs and discover how Zoo architects create special habitats for each of our animals. Use these ideas to create your own animal architecture or bio-inspired designs!

Evening snack, a light breakfast, and next-day admission are included. We will be camping indoors in our Brown Education Center!

Greens Bayou Coalition is hosting its 3^rd Annual Regatta along a 7.5-mile stretch of Greens Bayou on Saturday, October 13, 2018. The purpose of the event is to combine recreation, stewardship and education along Greens Bayou, as well as raise funds to continue development of a 27.5-mile paddle trail. The event will showcase two proposed launch locations, Brock Park and Thomas Bell Foster Park. For more information, and to register, visit greensbayouregatta.rallybound.org.

Trees are important oxygen producers, help provide energy-saving shade and the presence of trees positively impacts our psychological well-being. Keep Pearland Beautiful will pass out native trees during Arbor Day. KPB encourages a suggested donation of $10/tree (Two per household limit).

Pearland will benefit from these trees in multiple ways. First, people are attracted to a community with beautiful landscaping that includes trees for shade. Second, in city urban spaces and your own neighborhood a thriving tree canopy is important to keeping temperatures down in the summer. Planting trees around your home increase the energy efficiency of your air conditioner in the summer months. Join Buffalo Bayou Partnership for Texas’ largest canoe and kayak race – the 47th Annual Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta on March 9th. Paddlers, ages 12 and up, are encouraged to participate in the 15-mile race along the scenic Buffalo Bayou. Whether you are entering competitively or paddling for pleasure, you won’t want to miss out on this longstanding Houston tradition.

On March 30, 2019, from 9-11 a.m., Trees for Houston will host its Annual Tribute Tree Planting at Willow Waterhole Greenspace, 11346 Ricecrest St . Shovels and gloves will be provided for volunteers and minors are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
