Children’s Nature Classes @ Armand Bayou Nature Center

EcoTots are for children 18-36 months with an adult every Friday.
EcoKids are for children ages 3-6 every Wednesday and Friday.
EcoSchoolers are for homeschool children ages 7-10 every Wednesday and Friday.    EcoAdventurers are for children ages 11-14 every Wednesday.

Please bring a Snack, Refillable Water Bottle, mask, closed toe shoes and dress for the weather.

Houston Audubon’s Titmouse Club @ Houston Audubon Society

Through stories, hands-on activities, nature walks, and crafts, your children will be inspired with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world around them. Each week’s Titmouse Club lesson features a different nature theme, focusing on Houston-area animals and habitats. Your children will enjoy nature stories and puppets, hands-on biofacts, nature crafts, up-close animal encounters, and a short walk in the woods, all led by volunteer docent teachers.

Image result for Bayou Preservation AssociationEach year, the prestigious Terry Hershey Bayou Stewardship Award recognizes members in the community who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to aiding in the conservation, preservation, restoration and/or advocacy of Houston’s waterways. Nominees can be from the nonprofit, public or private sectors. Please submit nominations by 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2019. Submit the nomination information in the body of an email, or as an attachment, or by fax. Email to info@bayoupreservation.org, or fax to 713-529-6481.

Nature Revealed: Fascinating Fish (12+) @ Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

In their mysterious underwater world, fish must use amazing and bizarre adaptations to survive. They breathe water, change color, generate deadly jolts of electricity – and some communicate by farting. In this class, students will explore the incredible variety and strange features of fish using specimens and live animals. They will also do some pond dipping to see fish in their natural habitat.

Growing Spring Tomatoes with Urban Harvest @ Buchanan's Native Plants

Join Buchanan’s Native Plants for their annual class all about tomatoes. Sherry from Urban Harvest will give you the tips and tricks that you need to have a bountiful spring harvest. Make sure to come to this informative free class and then grab your tomatoes and supplies after class.

Cooking with Honey (16+) @ Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

What’s the sweetest way to support bees and local business? Cook with local honey! In this class, you’ll get to taste different kinds of local honey and explore different ways to use them. Learn how to make grapefruit sage honey mimosas, honey butter, and a savory cheese and honey appetizer. You’ll even get to take home some sage and honey syrup for your own pantry.

Notes: Wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy. Ages: 16 and up (21+ to drink)
