Join the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) for the Parks and Natural Areas (PNA) Roundtable on Monday, March 12, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at H-GAC Conference Room A, Second Floor. The PNA Roundtable is open to anyone interested in participating.
The topic of the meeting is Maintenance and Beyond. Speakers will discuss parks as flood mitigation and park maintenance before and after large-scale events. H-GAC staff will discuss upcoming PNA activities. A roundtable discussion will follow the presentations.
The PNA Roundtable serves as a forum for discussion of issues related to parks and natural areas, promotes the PNA Award Program, and maintains a regional inventory of parks. The PNA roundtable facilitates information exchange and planning efforts between various stakeholders and collaborators to protect and preserve parks and natural areas across the region.
Register to attend in-person or to attend via webinar.

Paddle along the scenic trees of Armand Bayou and try to spot some of the 370 species of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians that call it home. You might even catch a glimpse of one of the dozens of alligators making their home on the bayou. Armand Bayou lies along the Central Flyway, the largest migratory bird route in North America. Kayak the beautiful Artist Boat Coastal Heritage Preserve. This destination occurs at the natural and restored marshes protecting one of the most pristine examples of a dune/swale complex on Galveston Island. Artist Boat has worked hard to acquire over 600 acres of the coastal prairies and wetlands on Settegast Road through million dollar grants and community donations. Join us to discover the wonders of the dune/swale complex and wetlands and to celebrate nature while envisioning our future home.
The Coastal Heritage Preserve location includes a 0.3 mile easy walk through the Artist Boat Coastal Heritage Preserve to the launch site. This may make the destination unsuitable for bringing your own kayak as you would be responsible for carrying it to and from the launch site.
Explore natural marsh and the largest area of natural seagrass beds in the Galveston Bay system as you paddle along looking for pelicans, herons, egrets, and more. For more information, visit artistboat.org.

At Expo & Spring Fling, you’ll play for a day but learn for a lifetime.

The Bringing Back Main Street initiative offers local communities a place to share best practices and engage in a regional dialogue about revitalizing and supporting vibrant downtown spaces. Each quarter, community leaders gather for a roundtable on topics ranging from small business support to sidewalk infrastructure. These ongoing roundtables add to the knowledge shared during a 2015 workshop series.
Revitalization Roundtables
H-GAC hosts quarterly roundtables to help local governments, chambers of commerce, and economic development interests promote the economic and revitalization of downtown areas.
