GBCO Spring Fling @ Quintana Neotropical Bird Sanctuary

Gulf Coast Bird Observatory’s Spring Fling is an opportunity to see and celebrate the return of migratory songbirds as they arrive at stopover habitat along the Teas Gulf Coast. This is great time to enjoy the wide variety of species that migrate through Texas dressed in their spring finery. This year, Spring Fling will take place at the Quintana Neotropical Bird Sanctuary from April 7 to May 6 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily. For more information, visit gcbo.org.

Children’s Nature Classes @ Armand Bayou Nature Center

Looking for a place to get your children outdoors? ABNC’s EcoClasses will allow your child to explore, discover and observe (STEM). Join them for some great nature experiences! Check out their website at abnc.org for details or call 713-274-2668 to reserve your spot.

EcoTots are for children 18-36 months with an adult every Friday.
EcoKids are for children ages 3-6 every Wednesday and Friday.
EcoSchoolers are for homeschool children ages 7-10 every Wednesday and Friday.    EcoAdventurers are for children ages 11-14 every Wednesday.

Please bring a Snack, Refillable Water Bottle, mask, closed toe shoes and dress for the weather.

Environment Protectors Initiating Change (E.P.I.C)

E.P.I.C. is a free service learning club for high school teens that is aimed at learning about, and solving coastal environmental problems through hands-on projects.

Science Sprouts (ages 4-5) @ Houston Arboretum & Nature Center
May 3 @ 10:00 am – 11:15 am

Nature experiences for preschoolers!

Science Sprouts is an exciting series for curious kids who love nature and science. Classes will include a short lesson on the topic of the day, followed by a nature walk on the trails of the Arboretum. Each class will have a fun mixture of games, live animals, biofacts, crafts, story time, or music. Parents are welcome to participate with their child or simply drop them off.

Prairie Friday @ Armand Bayou Nature Center

An opportunity to participate in stewardship work for registered volunteers–if you are not already a volunteer, please check out Armand Bayou Nature Centers’ website for more information.

Help restore the prairie by potting and planting native plants and forbs every Friday, rain or shine. You do not need to attend every Friday.

First Friday Friends @ Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center

Senior adults are welcome to this monthly gathering for natural history programs, leisurely walks, and fun environmental activities. Call for information. Ages 55+.

All Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center programs and events are free of charge unless otherwise noted and open to the public regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, physical ability, national origin, or religion. Anyone requiring special assistance to participate in these programs should contact the nature center. Programs meet at the Nature Center unless otherwise noted. Amazing Raptors with Audubon @ Sims Bayou Nature Center

Can’t get enough of hawks, falcons, owls and kites? Well join us for this special evening of Amazing Raptors. The program starts at 7 PM in the Bayou Barn with a fun interactive program on raptors. You will then meet some of the Houston Audubon education raptors and learn more about their natural history. This is a family–friendly program for all ages. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children (3-17 years old) All programs take place from 7 PM to 9 PM.
