Meet in the outdoor classroom near the Nature Center for a one-hour beginner
class with JJPV member and instructor Doug Ebeling.

The Run the Grove 5K will begin and end at West 11th Street Park, located at 2400 West 11th Street in the heart of Timbergrove Manor in Houston, Texas. The 5K race is certified by the USATF. Aid stations and water will be available at the start, finish and along the course. See below for a map of the race course. The Kids’ Fun Run will be approximately 1K in length and will be open to kids of all ages.  All participants will receive a runner packet, which includes a race t-shirt, and all Kids Fun Run finishers will receive a medal. Packets are recommended to be picked up in advance from Tommie Vaughn Ford. Benefiting West 11th Street Park.

The Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce in partnership with CHI St. Luke’s Hospital – The Vintage, Harris County Pct. 4 “Trails as Parks”, and the Greater Houston Off-road Biking Association (GHORBA) is pleased to present a new, family-friendly outdoor festival to celebrate the tremendous amenities available on the SH 249 Corridor: Paddle N Pedal Fest.
Paddle N Pedal will operate at two adjacent locations:

The Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve also has volunteer opportunities available for this event! If you are interested in volunteering for any activities located on the CHI St. Luke’s portion of the festival, please sign up at signup.com. If you are interested in volunteering for any activities located in the Preserve, please sign up at volunteerhou.org. If you are willing to move back and for the between the event sites, the Preserve will put you where is needed.

Held on the “2nd Saturdays†of each month, they will enjoy a delicious vegan potluck and meeting, along with a discussion, film screening, food demo or speaker presentation on intersectional issues of veganism, animal rights, environmentalism, nonviolence, health and more. Each month will be something new! Their new venue is at the HCC Conference Center.
They are asking for a donation of $5 per person to help cover our facility rental expenses. All attendees must bring a vegan entree to share at the potluck (serving size to feed 10 people)!
Please remember to bring a vegan dish to share with the group! Their events are always vegan, so please only vegan or raw vegan foods (no animal-derived ingredients). Also bring reusable dinnerware and plates to keep the event earth-friendly. If you have questions on ingredients, feel free to contact them.
They will also feature a new discussion topic on inter sectional issues each month, such as: animal rights, ethical vegan living, vegan health & nutrition, cooking, world hunger solutions, eco-friendly living, nonviolence and more! Some months will also include film screenings and/or guest speakers and food demos.
Houston Community College Conference Center is located at 3100 Main St, 3rd Floor, Houston, TX 77002. See below for map. Free Parking is available on level 7 & 8 of the HCC Administration parking garage at Main & Elgin. Use elevator from parking garage to 3rd floor breezeway, which leads to the Conference suites. You must enter the building through the parking garage and not street-level.
All attendees must sign in at the Security Desk.

Attendees need to bring their own bicycle. We encourage everyone to wear a helmet. If you do not have your own bicycle, you can rent a bike from Houston B-Cycle. Nearest stations are located at Holman & Main (HCC/Ensemble Metro Station) or Holman & Live Oak (Project Row Houses).
This tour will meet in front of the Houston Community College “Central Campus” sign at 1300 Holman Street.
