Description: Regional Flood Management Council/FAST to Hear About Fort Bend County Activities

The Regional Flood Management Council (RFMC)
will meet Wednesday, July 21, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at H-GAC Conference Room
A, Second Floor. This will be a combined meeting of the RFMC and Floodplain Awareness
Success in Texas, or FAST, a Community Rating System (CRS) User’s Group.

Scheduled presentations include:

* Mark Vogler, Fort Bend County, discussing the new Fort Bend County DFIRM (Digital
Flood Insurance Rate Map) and subsequent updates to levees.
* Wes Highfield, Texas A&M Galveston, discussing the effect of CRS and other policy
indicators on flood damage in Texas.

FAST meets monthly and held its first meeting in April 2010. The group was started
by Debbie Cahoon of the Texas Water Development Board. H-GAC is partnering with
FAST to host meetings and help distribute information about the group’s activities.
Each FAST meeting is set to include comparison reviews of various communities and
the points they have earned for each CRS activity, and will serve as a support group
and network for brainstorming ideas to enrich community programs.
