Visit Laughing Frog Farm where Glen Miracle will be the Master of Ceremonies. He will lead a tour of the farm which includes vegetables, fruits, a greenhouse, chickens, horses and his latest installation of aquaponics. Glen is growing tilapia in an in-ground tank in the greenhouse in Hempstead, TX. Most farm-raised fish are fed unnatural, unhealthy diets of corn and soy and given antibiotics to ward off the illness that follows. He is feeding his fish worms, algae, duckweed, comfrey and dehydrated greens, all grown organically on the farm. During the cool months the pond will help heat the greenhouse that is full of tomato seedlings and citrus.
Directions to Laughing Frog Farm: From Houston take 290 west to Hwy 6 North at Hempstead and turn right (north). Drive 3 miles to FM 1736 and turn right (east). Drive 2 miles to Muckelroy Rd and turn left. Drive 1/2 mile to Woodland Lakes and turn right. Woodland Lakes dead ends into Wiggins Rd. Turn right and drive to the second gate–a red gate 38238 Wiggins Rd.
