Service Trip – Pine Brook Wetlands

Title: Service Trip – Pine Brook Wetlands
Location: PRESERVE Clear Lake Area
Link out: Click here
Description: The Pine Brook Wetlands Preserve is an 8.4 acre natural area including a 3 acre prairie pothole marsh – one of three remaining pothole marshes accessible to the public in the city of Houston. The site, located on the south side of Clear Lake City Blvd., off Park Center Drive, also includes an acre of native grass prairie. Pine Brook’s fragile wetland areas along with various pocket parks were recognized by Houston Audubon Society as vital habitat to birds and wildlife. Through efforts of Pine Brook residents, a partnership with Audubon was formed to develop a model to restore the habitat in Pine Brook’s wetland fringe area. More information on the Preserve is available at the website – just search for “Pine Brook Wetlands Preserve”. On this outing participants will work to remove invasive honeysuckle.
