Description: The Katy Prairie Consevancy together with Coastal Prairie Partnership, The Garden Club of Houston, and River Oaks Garden Club have created an exhibit composed of four independent but interrelated topics: history, ecosystem services, biodiversity, and restoration. These can be displayed together, as they will be at the Coastal Prairie: Houston’s Heartland exhibit at the museum, or separately.

After the conclusion of the three-day exhibition at MFAH, the exhibit will tour local nature centers and public schools for one year. Each venue will receive one of the four exhibit components, along with a prairie education kit that includes a prairie curriculum, grade-appropriate PowerPoint presentation, videos, pictures, and biological artifacts. The program is designed to make the learning and teaching about prairies fun, purposeful, and simple. Additionally, wildflowers grown by volunteers and used to accent the exhibit will be planted as part of the Hermann Park prairie restoration effort, Project Blazingstar.
