Houston City Council Agenda- January 19, 2022

The city will consider the following agenda items at the Houston City Council meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 19, in the City Hall Chamber. The agenda includes items about parks, bridge repair, wastewater treatment plant improvements, the contamination of property and groundwater, road improvements, and drainage.

Consent Agenda Items

Agenda Item 3 is the approval of a contract amount of $1 M for Waldemar Park to Millis Development and Construction.

Agenda Item 4 is for the approval of a contract with NBG Constructors for West Lake Houston Parkway bridge rehabilitation. This will cost $3 M and will repair the bridge damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

Agenda Item 5 is the approval of Keegans Bayou Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements by Industrial TX Corp. The amount of $17 M will improve the wastewater treatment plant at 9401 White Chapel Lane.

Agenda Item 6 is for Northwest Wastewater Treatment Plant improvements by LEM Construction, amounting to $15 M.

Agenda Item 8, purchases land for the Westridge Regional Lift Station Construction Project. The project will improve the collection of wastewaters throughout the city.

Agenda Item 14 is for the purchase of water testing materials and maintenance from Hach company, this will be used to test various water samples including industrial wastewater and waste production treatment plants.

Agenda Item 17 is for City-wide Special Waste and Stormwater Interceptor Pump Outs to Magna Flow Environmental Services, which provides pump-out services to the city.

Agenda Item 18 relates to the contamination of property and groundwater in Kashmere Gardens, the Fifth Ward, Denver Harbor and Trinity Gardens. The city believes that TCEQ should require UPRR to fully address the soil and groundwater. An agreement with Bracewell LLP will provide legal services for this issue.

Agenda Item 20 is requesting the Kingwood Drive Improvement Project be passed. The project consists of the reconstruction of two key intersections along Kingwood drive, including sidewalks and underground utilities.

Agenda Item 21 requests the Wilson Gully Storm Sewer Project be passed, it consists of the construction of drainage improvements to Wilson Gully.

Agenda Item 24 authorizes the sale of a utility easement out of the Cedar Bayou Wastewater Treatment Plant to CenterPoint Energy.

Agenda Item 26 takes $581 K out of Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund for the Anderson Road Project.

Agenda Item 27 takes $1 M out of Dedicated Drainage and Street Renewal Capital Fund for Melrose Park drainage and paving improvements.

Agenda Item 28 appropriates $8 M out of Metro Projects Construction DDSRF to Grava LLC for Citywide Asphalt Overlay Rehabilitation Package #1.
