International Coastal Cleanup Day

Title: International Coastal Cleanup Day
Location: Old Riley Fuzzel Preserve, 1209 Old Riley Fuzzel Road, Spring, TX
Link out: Click here
Description: Food wrappers, beverage containers, and cups, plates and cutlery are always among the top ten items removed from our beaches in Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup, the world’s largest volunteer effort for ocean health. 8.75 million people have crossed almost 300,000 miles collecting almost 150 million pounds of trash over the past 25 years.

Although we’ll be north of the coast at our Riley Fuzzel Preserve, a piece of trash here CAN get to the Gulf of Mexico! A plastic bottle dropped into Spring Creek, flows into the San Jacinto River, which feeds into Lake Houston (where most of Houston gets its drinking water). Lake Houston empties into Galveston Bay, which flows into the Gulf of Mexico.
