Description: Anyone who has grown vegetables and/or fruit trees is often faced with more produce than can be eaten fresh. Join us in a large commercial kitchen where Chef James will demonstrate canning of cucumbers, okra and a fruit. Find out what can be canned, the equipment needed, safety and sanitization guidelines. There will be recipes and goodies to take home. Price includes all consumables.
Chef James Ashley owns and operates PURE catering an organic/sustainable locally sourced from scratch catering company. He cooks with the freshest, seasonal ingredients in such a creative way that you never miss the extra calories and fat that are in equivalent entrees. Chef James attended the Art Institute of Houston’s culinary degree program. It was where he learned and mastered the art of canning and preserving foods. James has worked with a number of great chefs, including Chef Olivier Ciesielski and Chef Philipp Schmit of Bistro Modern. James is also founder of the Stage Tour Program that allows him and others like himself to train with some of Houston’s best Chefs and restaurants.
