TCEQ IN HOUSTON NEXT WEEK TO TALK ABOUT AIR

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will hold an informational meeting on Thursday, Oct 5, to provide an overview and discussion of several components proposed for the revision of the State Implementation Plan (SIP) addressing the federal eight-hour ozone air quality standard for the Houston-Galveston-Brazoria (HGB) ozone nonattainment area. That area contains Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller counties. The EPA requires that the area come into compliance with the eight-hour ozone standard by the end of the ozone season 2009, and that control strategies be in place by the beginning of the ozone season 2009.

The meeting will be held from 2 to 3:30 pm at the Houston-Galveston Area Council, conference room A, 3555 Timmons Lane, Houston. For more information concerning the HGB nonattainment area and the Oct 5 meeting, see TCEQ’s website.

The TCEQ is also one of the sponsors of “Air Quality 2006: Energy Leadership & Emissions Reduction Conference” that will be held Oct 11- 12 at the Hilton-University of Houston Hotel. This year’s conference theme is “Creating a Clean Energy City.” For additional information or to register, go to the conference website.
