SUSTAINABLE URBAN DEVELOPMENT

The Urban Land Institute is hosting an afternoon of presentations about various aspects of sustainable urban development on Thursday, August 23 at the Hilton Americas Hotel. The event begins with a luncheon featuring Jim Sud, who is responsible for growth and development for Whole Foods. He will speak about lessons learned from Whole Foods’ involvement in urban, mixed-use projects.

There will be panel discussions on the economics of green building and about mixed-use developments coming to Houston. Also, there will be roundtable discussion groups, where attendees can ask questions of experts and engage them and fellow attendees in a free-flowing conversation on the following topics: Green 101; Green Neighborhoods; Financing the Deal; Housing Tax Credits; The Economics of Green Building; and Public Support for Green Building and Infill Development.

CEC will have a display at the event’s “Market”, where exhibitors show off their development plans, incentives, and services to developers and financiers. We will be in space T3. For information, see the Institute’s website.
