In conjunction with National Wildlife Refuge Week, the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge will be hosting “The Big Sit” event on Saturday, October 8, 2016. The rules could not be easier; bird watchers, refuge volunteers, or anyone with an interest in birds can just sit in a 17-foot diameter circle and identify all the birds they see or hear during a 24-hour (or less) period. The bird watching will start at 7:00 am at the Champion Lake pier and go to sunset. Champion Lake is located at the end of CR 417, two miles east of FM 1409 or about 10 miles south of Dayton. You can come and stay as long as you want during the day long event. Bring a comfortable chair. If you have any questions you can contact Stuart Marcus at 936/336-9786 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
