The Woodlands, TX 77381
This meeting is a ‘Basic Training’ Workshop to kick off the new Woodlands Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby.
Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change thru passage of Carbon Fee and Dividend proposal.
A Carbon Fee and Dividend is the most efficient and equitable method of reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions, by increasing the cost of products that will emit GHG and therefore reduce consumption. The Carbon Fee is similar to a carbon tax collected at the well, mine or import terminal. The Dividend is a refund of 100% of the Fees collected every month back to the population. Since all of the Fees are returned, it is not a tax, and it is not a drag on the economy as taxes are. It will be the most efficient way of reducing Green House Gas emissions.
Industries have already built into their plans a significant cost for carbon emissions. Most of the Energy industry favors adding a price on Carbon, so industry is ready to implement the change. We need to implement this carbon fee and dividend to let industry use it to drive down consumption.
We, the public, need to tell our Congressmen and women that they need to enact this type this regulation. The CCL organization’s goal is to do that and mobilize our citizens to make the change happen.
Speakers at the Group Start meeting will include Ricky Bradley, CCL Regional Coordinator. In addition to learning more about the Carbon Fee and Dividend proposal, there will be group exercises and training.
