Artist Boat is a regional leader in eco-art to inspire people to conserve our Gulf Coast. Art meets science in Artist Boat’s Eco-Art Camp sessions. Campers will experience true science and art enrichment with the creation of Eco-Art. Each camper will create high quality art projects which illustrate all that they have learned throughout the camp.
Shark Mania – Jan 2 (9am-4pm)
Many sharks inhabit the Gulf of Mexico and we will learn about their habits and hangouts. Special works in masks and collage!
Fish Frenzy – Jan 3 (9am-4pm)
Learn about how ocean organisms feed and what they eat! We will learn about adaptions for survival and create our own special works of freaky ocean organism art with ink printing and chalk pastel.
Off The Deep End – Jan 4 (9am-4pm)
Investigate the invertebrates of the sea including jellyfish, crab, shrimp, squids, and more! Special works on canvas and paper.
Special story time guests during lunch hour. Campers are asked to bring snacks, a water bottle and lunch for the all day fun.
As the sun sets a whole new world comes to life. Explore the nighttime world as parents and children learn all about nocturnal animals. Journey down armadillo tunnels, learn how to echo-locate, and meet two of the most amazing Houston mammals as the group ventures into the night and see who’s awake out there. Tadpole Troopers is a nature class and outdoor adventure for parents and children to share together.
- Feb. 2: Going Batty
- Mar. 2: Moths and Fireflies

Leave your troubles at the door, and join us for a chill craft event, second Thursdays from 6-8pm. Bring what you’re making, and hang out with us while we’re making what we’re making. Knit, crochet, embroider, slow stitch, paint, draw, collage, quill, whittle — whatever. BYOB — light snacks provided. Must be over 18.
Encourage your child’s curiosity about nature and spend time with them exploring outdoors! Children 18 months to 3 years, with their adult companions, can join a naturalist for a story reading, a simple nature activity or craft, and a stroller-friendly hike on the beautiful Arboretum trails. Enjoy an interesting new nature experience each week with themes such as turtles, armadillos, spiders, and trees.
Please dress for weather. Tyke Hikes take place rain or shine. Closed-toe shoes are best for trail hikes. Older preschoolers are welcome but are the responsibility of the adult companion.
Celebrate the wonder of trees at the Arboretum’s annual Arbor Day. Enjoy free, fun activities for the whole family, including guided tree hikes, wood-turning demonstrations, crafts, seed and sapling giveaways, and more.
