Wild and Scenic Film Festival, a festival by activists for activists, leaves you feeling inspired and motivated to make a difference in your community and the world. Here you can experience the adrenaline of kayaking wild rivers, climbing the highest peaks and trekking across the globe with adventure films from around the world. You’ll witness how individuals and communities across the globe are taking action.
Our selected films will cover a variety of environmental topics and offer spectacular scenery, breathtaking journeys, and stories of human connections. Â

As part of Mercer Botanic Gardens’ Pollinator Festival and Fall Plant Sale on Saturday, October 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., individuals and groups are invited to create a pollinator-related scarecrow for display in the gardens from Saturday, October 6 to Wednesday, October 31.
Entry forms are available at hcp4.net. Forms also available at Mercer Botanic Gardens on the Visitor’s Center table. All entrants will be contacted by Mercer upon receipt of the form.

On October 20, 2018, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., take your family or students to Houston’s largest annual free, public family festival at Sam Houston Park. Hosted by the Consumer Energy Education Foundation, Energy Day showcases science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with nearly 70 interactive demonstrations and exhibits.
The Energy Day Festival was founded in Houston, Texas in 2011 to provide outreach and educational support materials, events, activities, resources, and information about career opportunities in STEM and the various energy fields – stressing the importance of energy, conservation, and efficiency to schools, students, and their families.

The Nature Discovery Center’s Pumpkin Patch fall festival returns to Russ Pitman Park this fall. Come to enjoy their refreshed, updated park, where your family can pick out the perfect pumpkins for your porch; take a horse-drawn wagon ride; browse vendor stalls; bounce, spin, and climb big attractions; and play plenty of festival games. Don’t forget to also stop by the food trucks for some scrumptious eats.
Admission to Pumpkin Patch is FREE. Cost of games, activities, food, drinks, and more will vary.
