Baytown Nature Center seeks Education Interns

The Baytown Nature Center, a department of the City of Baytown, is seeking a minimum of two Interns to teach conservation and wildlife programs to children of all ages. The primary program is the Back to the Bay Program, targeted for 9th grade biology students. Interns must be comfortable leading water sample analysis, pulling a seine net in the bay, and teaching students how to throw a cast net and identify the marine organisms collected. BNC interns also lead other education programs and participate in outreach programs, most in the Houston / Baytown area, but occasionally far enough away to require an overnight stay. During the summer BNC offers summer science camps, and the interns help teach all subjects. The position requires an acceptable level of comfort in handling live ambassador animals in education and outreach programs (i.e. snakes, alligators and other small animals).
