Port Houston Commission Meeting – June 22, 2021

The Port Houston Commission held its monthly public meeting on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 via Webex webinar. The agenda items included approvals for various commercial leases for land, contracts for infrastructure repairs, issuances of pipeline licenses, and the purchases of components such as electric container cranes and replacement parts. Significant votes held during the meeting are detailed below by section.

Commercial:

  • Approved multiple lease agreements with Texas Lehigh Cement Company and Matthews Brothers Dredging, Inc. for a total of approximately 2 acres of land.
  • Authorized the extension of leases with R. Warehousing & Port Services and CB&I, LLC for a total of approximately 61 acres of land.

Infrastructure:

  • Awarded contracts for various Port repairs and construction projects, including the Ramp Road 8 gate modification and guardhouse at Turning Basin Terminal, the repair of the bridge at Spilman Island, and trench drain repairs at Bayport Container Terminal.
  • Authorized a lease for vans under the Houston-Galveston Area Council METROVan Program.
  • Renewed expiring Port Authority licenses.
  • Issued and transferred various pipeline licenses.

Operations:

  • Authorized the purchases of three dockside electric container cranes, electronic components for wharf and rubber-tyred gantry cranes, paper products, four operator cabs, crane replacement parts, a main hoist gear reducer, 5,000,000 gate interchange tickets, repair services for cranes and railroads, and annual maintenance services for the marine terminal gate operating software system.
