Building This City 2018 Reception - Honoring Commissioner Rodney Ellis @ Emancipation Park Cultural Center | Houston | Texas | United States

Building on the success of City Council’s adoption of Plan Houston, Blueprint Houston recently announced its new mission – to promote the evolution and implementation of Plan Houston as the basis for planning the City’s future. Ensuring a sustainable transportation system, affordable housing, parks and open space, walkable communities and resilient neighborhoods are more important than ever. Collaboration with Harris County is essential to the success of this vision.

Blueprint Houston selected The Honorable County Commissioner Rodney Ellis as Blueprint Houston’s honoree at this year’s Building This City as a statement of that collaboration. Commissioner Ellis has championed economic development and strong communities throughout his career. He supports infrastructure improvements, including bike lanes, park amenities, and management districts to help build and maintain the vitality of our city.

In April, Ellis joined Mayor Sylvester Turner in support of implementation of Houston’s bike plan and Complete Communities Pedestrian Safety plan. He pledged to spend $10 million in the next 12 months in conjunction with the City’s $5 million over the next five years to jump start projects in these two areas.

Celebrate Commissioner Rodney Ellis on September 25, 2018, at Emancipation Park Cultural Center.
