Houston Green Film Series: Before the Flood – March 21, 2018

If you could know the truth about the threat of climate change — would you want to know? Before the Flood, presented by National Geographic, features Leonardo DiCaprio on a journey as a United Nations Messenger of Peace, traveling to five continents and the Arctic to witness climate change firsthand. He goes on expeditions with scientists uncovering the reality of climate change and meets with political leaders fighting against inaction. He also discovers a calculated disinformation campaign orchestrated by powerful special interests working to confuse the public about the urgency of the growing climate crisis. With unprecedented access to thought leaders around the world, DiCaprio searches for hope in a rising tide of catastrophic news. March 21, 2018, at Rice Media Center. 6:30 PM conversation, networking, and a light meal; 7:00 PM screening. Free to the public, though donations are kindly appreciated. Learn more on the Facebook event page.
The Houston Green Film Series was launched in 2010 by a coalition of non-profit, grassroots, environmental organizations. The purpose of this coalition is to bring awareness to the environmental crisis through the visual arts by presenting films with an environmental focus to the Houston community. In addition to showing an environmental film, a panel of experts is invited to lead a proactive discussion with the audience about the topic at hand.
The founding organizations are the US Green Building Council Emerging Professionals, Air Alliance Houston, Transition Houston, the Rice University Environmental Club and Houston Tomorrow. In 2013, the Green Building Resource Center joined the coalition. In 2017, the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition (@cechouston) joined the leadership team of the Houston Green Film Series.
