Houston City Council Agenda – March 6, 2018

This city considered the following agenda items at the March 6, 2018, Houston Council Meeting. The agenda items include new storm sewers in Buffalo Bayou, a new bridge in Brays Brayou, and repairs to wastewater collection systems.

10 – A contract of $22.2 million was awarded to Oscar Renda Contracting, Inc. for the design and construction of new storm sewers ranging from 24-inch to 84-inch with outfall structure and bank stabilization at Buffalo Bayou, necessary concrete paving, curbs, sidewalks, driveways and underground utilities. The project area is Shepherd Drive on the west, McDuffie Street on the east, Buffalo Bayou on the north and Westheimer Road on the south.

29 – Over $544,000 from the Metro Projects Construction DDSRF Fund was appropriated between the City of Houston and Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) for the Brays Bayou Flood Damage Reduction Plan for replacement of the Forest Hill Boulevard Bridge. The new bridge will be 44.5 feet wide instead of 36.5 feet wide. A 6 foot sidewalk will be constructed instead of a 10 foot bike lane. The City requests also that the traffic lanes be increased to 12 feet wide in lieu of the 11 feet wide lanes as proposed by HCFCD.

31 – Over $2 million from the Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund was awarded to the Lopez Utilities Contractor, LLC to repair wastewater collection systems. The purpose is to reduce sanitary sewer overflows, which is accomplished by renewal/rehabilitation of deteriorated collection systems.
